Three international participants have confirmed their attendance at London’s New Year’s Day Parade 2018.
The Austin High School ‘Maroon’ Marching Band are from the heart of America’s ‘Lone Star’ state. Their high school is the flagship campus and one of sixteen high schools in Austin’s school district. Over 200 students attend the high school band program, which comprises of four concert bands, two jazz ensembles, percussion class, colour guard and a sizable marching band.
The marching band is one of the oldest in the U.S., founded in 1914 and they plan to carry on their proud tradition through the streets of London, England on January 1st. This is the second appearance for the band at LNYDP.
The Edmond Santa Fe High School Band is based in Edmond town, a northerly suburb of Oklahoma and the fastest growing suburb in the state. The students of the Santa Fe Band are dedicated to excellence in all of their pursuits. The band consistently receives the state’s distinguished Academic Achievement Award, each band participates in weekly music enrichment lessons.
This will be the band’s sixth appearance at London’s New Year’s Day Parade and we look forward to welcoming them back to our great city of London.
The Tuscaloosa County High School ‘Wildcat’ Band are based in Northport, within the southern state of Alabama. The band program is comprised of students between grades 9 to 12 and comprises of a marching band, concert band, symphonic band, wind ensemble, jazz band, percussion ensemble, colour guard, majorette and dance-line group.
The band were founded in 1926 and remain one of the oldest in their state. Throughout that time they have traveled throughout the United States including, San Antonio, Washington D.C., Orlando, New Orleans and LNYDP in 1994!
