The London Borough of Lewisham, inspired by Circus entertainment, presented their entry, ‘Cirque du Lewisham’, to over 650,000 spectators on the streets of London.
Local performing arts & theatre group, D & B Academy, and production company Continental Drifts, were on hand to add a professional touch to the South London Borough entry. Members of the Academy worked with the Borough of Lewisham, in the months leading up to the event to create the winning entry. Parade judges were very impressed with the visual and theatrical quality of the entry and awarded the Borough a 7th place prize of £4,000, which will go towards the Mayor’s chosen charities.
The Borough entry was inspired by the creativity and imagination of the World famous Cirque du Soileil. Their performance was jam packed full of mini ringmasters, clown cars and wonderful performers from the D & B Academy. The academy have their own E4 show called ‘Stage School’, in which a TV crew documents the lives of young talent attempting to make it big in the World of performing arts!
On behalf of everyone at LNYDP, we would like to thank the Borough of Lewisham and congratulate them on their success!
