The 2018 LNYDP Borough Competition ended with a photo finish for the top three Boroughs. Westminster, Harrow and Hounslow didn’t make it easy for judges to make their decisions, as the quality remained high throughout.
The London Borough of Hounslow entry, ‘Hounslow’s Kind of Magic’, used some of the Borough’s best talent and enlisted the help of Outside the Box Dance Company, Asian British Music and volunteers from Feltham Arts Centre.
The late British Rock Legend and former Hounslow resident, Freddie Mercury, made an appearance in the form of local impersonator, dancing and singing his way along the route to ‘Don’t Stop Me Now‘, marking 40 years since the songs’ first release.
Hounslow narrowly missed 2nd spot, by one crucial point, and landed themselves the title of 3rd best Borough for 2018. Parade Executive Director, Bob Bone, visited Feltham Arts Centre in late January, to award the Borough £8,000, which will be passed to the Mayor’s chosen charities, The Pink Ribbon Foundation and Refuge UK. Performers from the Borough’s entry arranged a fantastic performance at the arts centre, during the medal ceremony, reaffirming why they scored so highly.
On behalf of everyone at London’s New Year’s Day Parade, we would like to thank the Borough of Hounslow for their participation and congratulate them on their fantastic success!
