Robert E Fitch Marching Band & London Boroughs Announced for LNYDP 2019!

We are excited to confirm the Robert E Fitch High School Marching Band, London Borough of Harrow & London Borough of Havering for LNYDP 2019!

Robert E Fitch High School Marching Band

Robert E. Fitch High School in Groton, Connecticut is home to the award winning Fitch Flacon Marching Band. Groton is nicknamed the “Submarine Capital of the World” because of the town’s long history of submarine manufacturing and United States Naval base. The band rehearses a field production throughout the summer and fall that combines both the aural and visual arts. The show is performed at all home American Football games in addition to weekly marching band competitions that are sponsored by the national organisation “Youth Education in the Arts”. The band also maintains involvement in the local community by performing in various parades throughout the school year.

The Fitch Falcon Marching Band has been New England States Champions in their respective division of US Bands in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017. For the past two years the group has also placed 1st in their class at US Bands Regional Champions and finished 4th (2016) and 3rd (2017) in their class at US Bands National Championships.

London Borough of Harrow & London Borough of Havering

The London Borough of Harrow & London Borough of Havering have announced their participation at London’s New Year’s Day Parade 2019!

They will compete alongside Boroughs from across the capital in a bid to win a top ten place prize in the LNYDP Borough Competition. Each Borough will enter their own performance group and parade float. The entries will be judged on who best represents the LNYDP theme, which this year is ‘London Welcomes The World‘.

In 2018 Harrow were successful in being placed 2nd in the LNYDP Borough Competition, winning a total of £9,000 for their chosen charity.

All prize money will be given to charities of the Borough’s choosing. The Borough Competition has been an integral part of the Parade since 1998 and over that time the competition has raised well over £1 million for very worthwhile causes.

The LNYDP team will announce new participants for London’s New Year’s Day Parade 2019 throughout the next few months! So stay tuned to our TwitterFacebook and Instagram accounts for the latest news from London’s New Year’s Day Parade.
