Parade Watched by Millions Globally

Parade Wows the World

London was a ‘glittering star’ that lit up the World on New Year’s Day – says the man that entertained many millions on New Year’s Day.

More than 500,000 people packed the streets of the West End to watch London’s New Year’s Day Parade.

The spectacular turn-of-year tradition was screened live by hundreds of TV stations across the World, has been hailed as the biggest and best in the event’s 34-year history.

Bob Bone, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Destination Events, which owns and runs the parade said:

“Take a bow London! What a day – we have been getting plaudits from across the Capital and around the World.

“London was a glittering star on January 1st – it never fails to shine for the parade – and this year was no exception.”

The parade’s theme was ‘London Loves Life’.

Bob went on to say: “London certainly showed just how much it loves life – and in turn the World has shown just how much it loves London.”

More than 8,000 performers, including entries from sixteen London boroughs, took three and a half hours to parade along the 2.2 mile route.

Results of the borough competition will be announced at a special reception on Saturday (January 4th).
