London’s New Year’s Parade 2020 is to celebrate the vim and vigour of the remarkable city that it serves, it has been announced.

The theme for the forthcoming street spectacular is ‘London Loves Life’.

The turn-of-year tradition, much loved across the Capital and around the World, is eagerly anticipated by participants, tourists and television viewers alike.

Executive Director Bob Bone said: “London is just bursting with energy, creativity and …. life.  We wanted to show the World just how much joie de vivre we have to offer – and share it around on such a joyous occasion.

“We give the opportunity for London boroughs to step out on a global platform, entertain the World, radiate their true spirit and raise a tremendous amount of money for charity in the process.”

London borough entries are judged by a public panel which allocates a £65,000 prize pot to their respective chosen charities

The event, which attracts a massive street audience in excess of 500,000, is viewed live on TV stations around the World.

The organisers and owner of London’s New Year’s Day Parade produce the country’s largest annual outside broadcast for a one-day event.

This year’s three and a half hour global transmission was transmitted to more than 1,000 TV stations.

More than 8,000 performers from numerous nations are preparing to take part in the street spectacular on January 1st.

The annual event will be the 34th to light up London and will once again generate many hundreds of millions of pounds for businesses, hotels and restaurants along the route.
