London Borough of Sutton receive £10,000 Prize

Performers, Charities and Councillors gathered at Sutton Civic Centre on Friday evening to celebrate their participation and 1st place win at the LNYDP Borough Competition.

15 Boroughs, from across the capital, entered into the 2019 LNYDP Borough competition, in a bid to win thousands of pounds for their chosen charities. Local businesses, performing art groups and societies worked with their Borough to help them finish in the top ten.

Members of the public voted on their favourite Borough, using a strict scoring criteria and the top 10 Boroughs with the most point would receive a generous monetary donation.

Mayor of Sutton, Cllr Steve Cook, told us how their win “meant so much” to the hard working participants and to the charities that will receive their share of £10,000.

Each year the event raises more than £65,000 for mayoral charities across the Capital – competing for prize money in the LNYDP Borough Competition.

The winners as voted by the public and a panel of VIPs were:
1st – Sutton – winning £10,000 for their mayoral charity
2nd – Havering – winning £9,000 for their mayoral charity
3rd – Redbridge – winning £8,000 for their mayoral charity

Runners Up (each winning £5,000 for their mayoral charities are (in order): Hillingdon, Lewisham, Barking & Dagenham, Harrow, Barnet, Merton and Hounslow.
