LNYDP – LIONESSES OFFERED OPEN TOP CELEBRATION

‘Own Goal’ Gaff Put Right by Parade

England’s roaring Lionesses may get their triumphant open top bus celebration after all thanks to London’s New Year’s Day Parade.

An ‘Own Goal Gaff’ of failing to organise a victory parade through London meant that there was widespread disappointment when it became clear that just 7,000 people would witness their Euro 22 celebration in Trafalgar Square.

The turn-of-year tradition, shown live on TV in the UK and around the World, regularly attracts more than 600,000 spectators to the streets of London.

“This seems to be an awful own goal. Why stop the party now?” said Joe Bone, Director of the event.

“This amazing team deserves all the adulation and celebration that this country has got to give.

We want to give the Lionesses every opportunity to take a bow Infront of a massive crowd on the streets – and a huge global audience.”

London’s New Year’s Day Parade, now in its 37th year, fills an iconic 2-mile route with colour, community, and tip top entertainment.

The parade begins in Piccadilly, and heads to Parliament Square, via Piccadilly Circus, Regent Street St James, Pall Mall, Trafalgar Square and Whitehall.

The free, family event will is briming with fun features, from more than 8,000 performers including rock & pop acts, marching bands from the USA, classic cars, entries from around 20 London boroughs.
