The City of Westminster hoped to repeat last year’s success in the Borough Competition with a very strong entry that best represented the 2018 theme ‘Showtime – Roll Up, Roll Up, to the Greatest Show on Earth’.

Their entry, ‘Westminster’s World of Panto‘, encapsulated the great British tradition of Pantomime Theatre and all volunteers and set designs made for a truly spectacular display. The Borough were fortunate to have at hand, volunteers from the wonderful Sylvia Young Theatre School, whose theatrical professionalism helped secure the 1st place prize. The elaborate set designs and fantastic costumes fired up the imaginations for over 650,000 spectators on January 1st.

The charities that will benefit from the £10,000 prize money are, The Sir Simon Milton Foundation and Age UK Westminster.  In early February Parade Executive Director, Bob Bone, visited the Borough to present each volunteer with their exclusive LNYDP participant medal and a cheque to the Borough for finishing 1st. The Lord Mayor of the City of Westminster, Cllr Ian Adams, thanked and congratulated all involved and reiterated how the money will be going to some very important, charitable causes. Pupils from Sylvia Young Theatre School were also in attendance to receive their medals and to have a look back at their performance on the big screen.

We would like to thank everyone that took part in the City of Westminster’s Borough entry and congratulate them for their success.
